COVID-19 Policy

 Covid-19 Policy

The following Covid-19 Guidance Policy is put in place by order of Toronto Public Health (TPH) and the Ministry of Education: Operational Guidance During Covid-19 outbreak.  The policy intends to protect children, staff and families from contracting Covid-19 while at our centre.  All reasonable precautions will be taken, and our policy will be adjusted as new information and recommendations develop concerning Covid-19 protocols.

Immanuel will continue to adhere to CCEYA (Child Care and Early Years Act) regulations, as well as the two previous documents. In the event of a conflict between CCEYA and Operational Guidance During the Covid-19 Outbreak, the Outbreak document will prevail. Toronto Public Health (TPH) guidance and advice must be followed if it contradicts the Outbreak document.

Screening for Symptoms:

Please screen your child using Toronto Public Health’s screening tool before bringing them to child care each day. If your child shows symptoms of COVID-19 or is unwell, please do not bring them to child care. Call the centre and let us know.

Attendance

  1. Children, staff, and parents must not attend Immanuel if they are unwell, even if they have mild symptoms or symptoms resembling a mild cold.  Some of these may include fever, cough, difficulty breathing, decrease or loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

  2. Parents must call and inform the centre if their child will be absent for any reason.  Staff will follow up with any child who has an unplanned absence and parents do not call the centre.

Adults entering the centre may choose whether they wish to wear a mask or not.

Hand Hygiene

  1. Immanuel has an adult size and a child-size sink in almost all classrooms (Room 6 uses the washroom sink and hand sanitizer).  Hand sanitizer is also available in all rooms.

  2. Children and staff are required to clean their hands upon entering the centre, before and after eating, after using the bathroom, after a cough or a sneeze, when coming inside after outdoor play, whenever hands are visibly soiled, before and after applying sunscreen, before donning a mask and before and after removing a mask.

  3. Staff will assist children with proper hand hygiene when required.

If a Child or Staff Member Develops Symptoms or Becomes Sick While in Care
